Flanged housings are components commonly used in machine equipment to provide support and mounting for bearings, typically in rotating applications. They consist of a housing with a flange, where the flange serves these purposes:
Mounting - the flange provides a stable and secure surface for attaching the housing to a structure or a machine equipment.
Alignment - flanged housings often have features such as holes or slots for bolts or screws that allow for precise alignment of the bearing within the housing. Alignment is crucial for ensuring smooth operation and minimizing wear on the bearing.
Flanged housings are available in various materials, configurations, and sizes to accommodate different types of bearings and mounting requirements, such as EXALIGN® flanged housings.
EXALIGN® flanged bearing housings DF-2 bolt or FL-4 bolt are pre-mounted with GGB DU or DX plain bearings in captive inner members and accommodate shaft misalignment up to 15°. The high-performance assembly eliminates edge loading, allowing full use to be made of DU and DX performance. Sealing in most applications is not needed. The bearing housing assemblies are self-aligning, a precise positioning and accurate alignment during installation is not required. The standard flanged housings are made in grey cast iron and supplied with pre-finished bores. Both bearing housings DF and FL are available in metric and inch sizes in both standard and custom configurations.
